Breaking summer

Heat and humidity, with highs in the 90s and the chance for sudden storms. It’ll be like that all week.

police

Despite Baltimore’s deadliest month in decades, arrests plummeted in May by over 90% in some neighborhoods.

City Council VP Edward Reisinger: “It’s a mess. If this trend continues, people are going to feel, even myself, unsafe.”

Residents are noticing the absence of police, and so our criminals. In light of an obvious withdraw by police, Gary Tuggle, former Drug Enforcement Agency head for Baltimore, doubts that much of the homicide surge had to do with the heist of thousands of pills from area pharmacies.

freddie

Police claim that holding footage from Freddie Gray’s arrest and later unrest in the city has limited some of the CitiWatch cameras to only saving 72 hours of footage instead of 28 days.

business

Some Korean-American shop owners that were looted on April 27th may sue the city, arguing that there wasn’t enough done to protect their businesses.

shooting

+ Early yesterday, a 49-year-old man was shot to death on Glenwood Avenue in North Baltimore.

+ A 5-year-old shot himself in the foot in the Franklin Square neighborhood.

goodnews

+ A 1,000 foot waterslide down Hillen Road.

+ The Orioles’ recent win streak wiped out their losing record.
