At a meeting with Gov. Larry Hogan’s transit team, city leaders learned about the state’s alternative for the nixed Red Line project: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. After kicking journalists out of the meeting (but State Sen. Bill Ferguson kept tweeting), MTA officials revealed they’re still in “listening mode,” without any real alternate proposals to the light rail project. Representatives for the city got frustrated, under the impression that Hogan’s team gathered them to share ideas on how to replace the Red Line. MTA Secretary Pete Rahn instead reiterated the goal of improving bus service in the city.

Baltimore hit 200 homicides for the year, after a Sunday shooting victim died from his injuries, and another man was shot and killed in northeast Baltimore. Last year, Baltimore did not hit the 200 homicide milestone until early December.

A Baltimore Police officer is on desk duty after a photographer shared an image of the officer appearing to wave a gun at a crowd during Sunday night’s Druid Hill Park dirt bike standoff. Police responded in riot gear to Sunday’s weekly gathering, donning riot gear to disperse an “unruly” crowd.

How’s Baltimore’s housing market holding up, following April’s unrest? Not bad. Pending sales were up more than 10% in July over July 2014. The number of new listings, average sale prices, and number of closed sales for the year are all up in 2015 over last year.

Ravens’ receiver Steve Smith Sr. plans to retire at the end of the upcoming season. Hall of Fame inductee Smith joined the team last year, after 13 years with the Carolina Panthers.
