On Friday, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, interim police commissioner Kevin Davis, and community members gathered at the spot where a 10-year-old boy was shot Thursday, joined hands and prayed for a break in the city’s violence over the weekend.

Police reported several shootings over the weekend, but none of them were fatal. On Sunday, an 18-year-old was shot in an attempted robbery after leaving a basketball tournament at the city’s Madison Square Recreation Center in east Baltimore. He’s hospitalized in serious condition.

State Senator Catherine Pugh and city council member Carl Stokes are joining an increasingly crowded race for mayor. Both Pugh and Stokes have run for mayor before, Pugh came in second behind Rawlings-Blake in 2011’s primary. So far, 8 candidates have expressed intention to run in the Democratic primary, with several more planning to run as independents. A few more potential candidates (State Del. Jill Carter, council member Nick Mosby, author Wes Moore) are expected to announce their plans soon.

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Maryland’s largest provider of individual health care plans, will raise rates on individual plans up to 26% in 2016.The state’s insurance administration approved CareFirst’s rate hike on Friday. CareFirst says it needs the increase to cover a $100 million gap between cost of care and the premiums they collected in the past year. CareFirst holds 94% of Maryland’s individual market (though only 4% of residents buy individual plans)

Under Armour is tapping Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, the architecture firm behind Pixar’s campus and Apple’s iconic stores in New York and London, to design the master plan for UA’s new campus at Port Covington.
